Thursday.
My phone died at some point during the night, so I didn't exactly meet Teysha and Caroline for breakfast at 6:15 as planned. I slept like a rock. Like usual. And didn't wake up until I heard a sweet friend yelling outside my window. I didn't answer my phone and Teysha knew I would need some help getting to school in time. I realized something was wrong when I opened the window and it was BRIGHT outside. I never get up after the sun. All was well though... she made me coffee while I rushed to shower and get out the door by 7:20. To hear about this close-to-tragic morning from Teysha's point of view, check out her blog.

Wednesday. Hump Day.
After Wednesday hits, I try to act like it's the weekend. It helps my attitude a lot. It's the hump I have to get over before I get to go to the farmer's market and have people over for pancakes. So, I guess hump day is a good day.
It was an entertaining day at school because they just finished up turning fairytales into scripts so they could perform them for the class. They were really into it/hilarious.

On Tuesday....
Well, that pretty much sums up my school day. I didn't really want to be there. They were re-roofing my portable building and using some power drill around the door frame all day, so I got tired of hearing my own voice. It went something like this...
Me: "GOOD MORNING GUYS, GO AHEAD AND BREAK UP INTO YOUR WRITING GROUPS."
Them: "WHAT DID YOU SAY? WHAT DO WE DO? WE CAN'T HEAR YOU!"
All day.
And my professor was there to grade my teaching skills. She probably thinks I yell a lot. I don't. Promise.
The day got better though. I got to see Caroline, spend time chillin with my God, go for a walk with Sonnie, make brownies, have community group girls in my house, and make a mess with Teysha. Exhibit A:

Monday. Welcome to my life.
That's my Monday morning... I got to spend the night with my sister/best friend Ruth in her dorm. She's a CA, so life is luxurious in the 2nd floor suite. I walked back to my house just as the sun was peeking over the horizon, made some delicious coffee, and got to sit in my favorite morning spot for a few minutes before school. I like this particular couch because it's at a perfect angle in front of the living room window. I like windows a lot, and coffee, and journaling.
This is a little snippet of what my school day looks like. It's really a lot of fun. My students are hilarious and in 6th grade, so that helps.

Beautiful Sunday.
Wildflowers + Sunshine = Joy
We road-tripped back from Utopia on Sunday. It was a really lovely drive. But it had to be fantastic because I woke up with this view:
And got to drive with this view:
Did I mention there were a lot of wildflowers? I love wildflowers.
Utopia! Maybe it's the best place on earth.
Creation blew my mind this weekend.
18 girls made a 7 hour trek to Utopia, Tx. I was lucky enough to be one of them. No light pollution. No Walmart. No showers. Just nature. Here's a little taste of what we got to see and do:

I really had a hilarious and fun weekend. Gazing at stars. Hiking some trails. Sitting around the fire. New friends. Good conversation. Playing in the dam. Scavenger hunt. Wild flowers. Joy.

I absolutely adore my family.
I've got to spend the whole weekend with my family. The fact that I'll be living in India for the next few years has really started to sink in, so each second I get to spend with my family is really precious.
A few reasons I love my family:
- There are a TON of them.
- There's always something to talk about, and ALWAYS something to do.
- They make me feel a little more normal than usual (because they're crazy too!)
- They've never met a stranger. I love having random guests, extra kids, and new family members all the time.
- I know I'm loved no matter what.
I really wanted to take a few family pictures today, but no one was on board. You'd think that out of ten people, AT LEAST SOMEONE would want to pose for a picture, but no. I've had fun though. Here's a little snippet of my weekend so far:
Obviously our first experience with baby chicks. Haha.
All I had to say was "jump," and this is what I got.
Ruth-- my sister and best friend.
This is our family "band." Lydia loves the spotlight. =)

Sojourn.
I've honestly been sitting here for ten minutes trying to think of a name for this blog. I typed out a few things, but nothing looked right. I resorted to google, searched for synonyms of 'journey,' and sojourn caught my eye.
Sojourn is:
to stop temporarily and wait for
brief travel
a stay at temporary residence
brief travel
a stay at temporary residence
Isn't that exactly what this life is? Temporary. Brief. A sojourn. I take life too seriously, and not seriously enough. I get caught up on little, insignificant things and lose sight of what's really important. I want to live more like my Lord. I want to get up in the morning just to bring Him glory.
I've never really blogged, but I want to learn how so that I can share life. What I learn. Questions I have. Places I go. People I see. People I get to know. What I get to do during my sojourn on earth.
